Labor is an important part of the sustainable development debate. The 8th Sustainable Development Goal (‘Decent work and economic growth’) concerns quality of work and economical development. Presently, however, there are still many problems with working conditions in Japan, and both employees and employers are demanding reforms.
This forum was organized by the city of Kanazawa and the company alliance IKUBOSS in order to discuss work style reforms from the employer’s vantage point.
UNU IAS-OUIK sponsored the forum, making it the 7th event to be included in the Ishikawa/Kanazawa SDGs Dialogue Series.
Conference speakers drew attention to the fact that working should not necessarily be only about income, but also about personal fulfillment. Related topics such as the reduction of working hours were also discussed.
What is an Iku-Boss?
An “Ikuboss” is a boss who thinks about the work-life balance of subordinates and staff working together in the workplace, supports the career and life of each individual, produces results in the organization, and can also enjoy their own work and private life.
