OUIK`s Support in the exhibition booth at the “Gastronomy Tourism World Forum in Nara”

On December 13-14, 2022, a global forum focused on tourism through food and food culture was held in Nara Prefecture. To promote the charm of the food and culinary culture of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage (GIAHS) area known as “Noto Satoyama Satoumi,” Ishikawa Prefecture, along with four cities and five towns in Noto and related organizations, participated in the exhibition. Researcher Koyama from the United Nations University OUIK supported the exhibition booth for both days.

At the exhibition booth, we introduced visitors from both Japan and abroad to traditional salt-making techniques passed down in Noto, as well as tourism initiatives that utilize local food and culture. We were also able to showcase the “Noto Satoyama Satoumi: Video Series on Food Knowledge and Techniques” created by UNU-IAS OUIK last year on a monitor. We hope that as many people as possible were able to appreciate the charm of Noto’s food culture.
