2018/4/16, Ifugao
On April 16, 2018, the Annual General Meeting of the Ifugao GIAHS Support Council was held. Together, the Noto region and the Ifugao terraced fields, both recognized as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), are creating a framework to cultivate the next generation for regional revitalization, with support from JICA.
Kanazawa University operates the Satoyama-Satoumi Meister Program as a human resource development initiative, and Ifugao State University collaborates with the local community to address various challenges in training human resources in the Ifugao terraced fields.
UNU-IAS OUIK has also been invited to participate as an observer in the Ifugao GIAHS Council, which supports this initiative from Noto. With OUIK’s involvement, there is an expectation to disseminate the significance of inter-regional cooperation between Noto and Ifugao on an international level, and to encourage the participation of a more diverse range of stakeholders.
